SUMMARY:Unlocking Access: Overcoming Obstacles to Engagement in Mental Health Services
DESCRIPTION:Joanna Barker (Audiologist\, Specialist in Tinnitus\, Hyperacusis and Misophonia Rehabilitation) will be hosting this Patient Education online meeting. The fourth meeting in the series is planned for 16th December 2024 6:30 to 7:30 PM (UK time). We welcome back Irini Laura Verbist (Research Psychologist) who will talk about ‘Unlocking Access: Overcoming Obstacles to Engagement in Mental Health Services’. In this presentation\, Irini will share insights from her research on the barriers that hinder access and engagement with psychological therapies. Drawing upon her work\, she will explore factors such as societal stigma\, cultural misconceptions\, accessibility issues\, and personal apprehensions that prevent individuals from seeking and continuing mental health treatment. By examining these obstacles\, we aim to deepen our understanding of the challenges faced by those in need of psychological support. This discussion will open the floor to potential ideas and collaborative thinking on how we might address these barriers to improve mental health outcomes within our communities.
