Professor Fatima Husain from Department of Speech and Hearing Science, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA is conducting research surveying the impact of COVID, long COVID and vaccination for COVID on adults with tinnitus. You are being asked to participate in a voluntary research study. The purpose of this study is to estimate the prevalence of COVID-related tinnitus, and to understand factors that might affect the severity of tinnitus during the pandemic. Tinnitus, also known as “ringing in the ears,” is a common hearing disorder in adults. Individuals who developed tinnitus after the diagnosis of COVID, as a symptom of COVID, long-COIVD, or after the vaccination for COVID are considered as those who have COVID-related tinnitus. Participating in this study will involve answering survey questions and questionnaires, and your participation will last 20-30 minutes.
Risks related to this research are minimal, and they are not greater than those you experience in everyday life. Benefits related to this research include a better understanding of the impact of COVID on tinnitus to advance medical care in improving the management and intervention of individuals with tinnitus.
