2nd International Conference on Pharmacology & Gene Therapy for Tinnitus 2 October 2025 (UK-based virtual event)

Welcome to the II International Conference on Pharmacology & Gene Therapy for Tinnitus
Virtual Event | 2 October 2025 | 1:45 PM – 5:30 PM UK time (BST)

We are delighted to welcome you to the second edition of the International Conference on Pharmacology & Gene Therapy for Tinnitus, a virtual gathering hosted from the United Kingdom. This focused half-day event brings together world-leading researchers and emerging voices in the fields of auditory neuroscience, pharmacology, genetics, and translational therapy. Our programme explores cutting-edge advances in tinnitus and hyperacusis research, from objective biomarkers and cortical imaging to novel pharmacological approaches and animal models.

The event opens with a welcome address by Dr Hashir Aazh (UK), followed by a talk on the Need for Objective Functional Biomarkers to Find Druggable Targets for Tinnitus With and Without Hyperacusis by Professor Marlies Knipper (Germany). We then turn to a trio of student presenters — Marlon Deutscher, Lea Müller, and Rodrigo Andrés Donoso San Martín (Germany) — who will share novel insights on cortical activity traits and druggable targets using OPM imaging.

Dr Kelly N. Jahn (USA) will present early findings on the Efficacy of Pharmacological Interventions for Pain Hyperacusis from the patient perspective, followed by Dr Arnaud Norena (France), who will discuss Noise-Induced Hearing Loss Alters Potassium-Chloride Cotransporter KCC2 and GABA Inhibition in the Auditory Centres.

Our final session block includes talks by leading US-based researchers: Dr Wei Sun on Exploring Hyperacusis Using Genetic and Noise-Induced Animal Models, Professor Thanos Tzounopoulos on Mechanisms and Treatment Development for Tinnitus, and Professor Richard Salvi on the Fragile X Genetic Model of Hyperacusis and Drug Treatment.

We look forward to an afternoon of high-level scientific exchange and cross-disciplinary dialogue.
