International Seminar on Emotional and Sensory Experiences in Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Friday 14th November 2025 | UK-based Online Event
On Friday, 14th November 2025, from 1:45 to 5:30 PM UK time, a unique online seminar will bring together a group of clinicians, researchers, and therapists to explore the emotional and sensory experiences of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
The seminar opens with a welcome and introduction by Dr Hashir Aazh (UK), setting the tone for an afternoon of cross-disciplinary dialogue and international insight. Dr Prashanth Prabhu (India) will begin the programme by examining the co-occurrence of tinnitus, hyperacusis, and misophonia in children with ASD, conditions that add complexity to the sensory profile of autism but often remain under-recognised. From Israel, Dr Ayelet Ben-Sasson will explore the intricate link between sensory sensitivity and anxiety, offering a window into how internal discomfort may shape emotional expression and behaviour in autistic children.
The focus then shifts to France, where Dr C. Lucia Florez Pulido and Florence Bronny will present their work on psychomotor treatment and the creation of practical tools designed to support children’s sensorimotor development. They will be followed by Dr Thomas Gargot, who will discuss emerging technological innovations aimed at addressing sensory difficulties in ASD, highlighting the potential of personalised, tech-enabled approaches to care.
From the United States, Dr Jewel Crasta will explore ways to enhance engagement in occupational therapy for autistic children by tailoring interventions to reflect their unique lived experiences. Dr Cristina Murphy (UK) will then delve into the role of auditory processing disorder (APD) in children with ASD, raising important questions about how these children interpret and respond to sound in everyday life.
Concluding the seminar, Emani Dotch (USA), PhD student, will offer a forward-thinking perspective on co-designing technology with autistic children, not merely for them, to support emotion regulation and reduce the impact of noise sensitivity. Her presentation highlights the value of participatory design, shifting the focus toward empowerment, collaboration, and respect for autistic voices.
Throughout the afternoon, participants will be invited to challenge assumptions, engage with emerging evidence, and reflect deeply on the many ways emotional and sensory factors shape the lives of children on the autism spectrum. This seminar is not only about knowledge-sharing, it is about fostering a deeper understanding that can guide therapy, education, innovation, and human connection.
