Are you affected by noise sensitivity or sound intolerance? We want to hear from you!
The proposed expansion of Heathrow Airport, including a third runway, is positioned as a key step towards boosting the UK’s economic future. This major project aims to enhance terminal infrastructure, improve passenger experience, and upgrade local transport links while maintaining Heathrow’s global presence. However, despite these potential economic benefits, there are real concerns about how increased noise levels might impact noise-sensitive individuals, especially those living near the airport and under flight paths.
The Hashir International Institute is leading a project to better understand how environmental noise affects people with sound intolerance disorders. Our therapy assistant, Emily Down, is looking to interview individuals who would like to share their stories and perspectives.
Living near Heathrow, where aircraft noise is frequent, can be particularly challenging for noise-sensitive individuals. Increased flight frequency, especially during early mornings and late nights, could make managing symptoms more difficult. Research shows that noise sensitivity can be linked to mental health issues, including sleep disturbances, heightened stress, and emotional strain. Your insights are essential to raising awareness and shaping strategies to support those affected by noise.
Whether you live near Heathrow or in other areas affected by noise pollution, your voice matters! By sharing your experience, you can help advise the government on making informed, compassionate decisions.
If you or someone you know would like to participate, please get in touch. Together, we can make a difference for the noise-sensitive community.
