London to Host the 4th World Tinnitus Congress and 15th International Tinnitus Seminar, 30 June – 2 July 2027

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — 6 May 2025 — Following an international selection process, London has been chosen to host the 4th World Tinnitus Congress (WTC) and the 15th International Tinnitus Seminar (ITS) from 30 June to 2 July 2027. The event will be organised by the Hashir International Institute and held at a central London venue, to be announced later this year.

The official theme of the 2027 Congress is:
“From Mechanism to Meaning — The ABC of Tinnitus”,
emphasising the integration of Auditory science, Behavioural understanding, and Clinical innovation — the three foundational pillars of modern tinnitus care.

This will be a historic occasion for the global tinnitus community:

  • It marks the first time the World Tinnitus Congress will be held in the United Kingdom.
  • It also marks the return of the International Tinnitus Seminar to London after 28 years, following Professor Jonathan Hazell’s hosting of the 1999 meeting.

The selection of London followed a highly competitive international bidding process, with two exceptional proposals submitted — one for Amsterdam by Dr Annemarie van der Wal, and one for London by Dr Hashir Aazh on behalf of the Hashir International Institute. After a closely contested vote by international delegates and attendees, London was selected as the host city.

The WTC and ITS are the foremost global platforms for advancing research, clinical practice, and innovation in tinnitus care. Since the founding of the ITS by Dr Abraham Shulman and Dr Barbara Goldstein in the 1970s, and the launch of the WTC in 2017, these events have shaped the international agenda for understanding and managing tinnitus.

The 2027 scientific programme will address a broad range of topics, including:

  • Neuroscience and neurophysiology of tinnitus
  • Cognitive behavioural and psychological interventions
  • Genetics, biomarkers, and clinical phenotyping
  • Neuromodulation, pharmacology, and emerging therapies
  • Pulsatile tinnitus and medical/vascular aetiologies
  • Somatosensory influences and auditory imagery

Sessions will be organised into expert-led thematic tracks and supported by an international advisory board. The congress will also feature keynote lectures, panel discussions, early-career research sessions, and public engagement initiatives.

The official congress website will launch in summer 2025. In the meantime, updates will be available on the Hashir Institute website and through affiliated professional channels.
