The first volume of the Annual Tinnitus Report has been published, providing a global overview of peer-reviewed research on tinnitus published during 2025.
The Annual Tinnitus Report 2026 was developed to provide researchers, clinicians, policymakers, professional organisations, and people interested in tinnitus with an accessible picture of how the field is developing internationally. Rather than focusing on a particular treatment, theory, or professional discipline, the report looks across the tinnitus research landscape and brings together information about the scientific literature published over the preceding year.
For Volume 1, a comprehensive literature search identified 446 eligible tinnitus-related studies published during 2025. The report examines where this research was conducted, the topics being investigated, the journals in which tinnitus research appeared, and the researchers and institutions contributing to the field.
The geographical analysis demonstrates the increasingly international nature of tinnitus research. China contributed the largest number of eligible publications, with 104 studies, followed by the United States with 81 studies. Research activity was identified across many other countries, illustrating both the global burden of tinnitus and the growing international scientific effort to understand and manage the condition.
Beyond counting publications, the Annual Tinnitus Report is intended to provide a continuing record of the development of tinnitus research. By producing the report annually, changes in research activity, geographical participation, scientific priorities and emerging areas of interest can be observed over time. Future volumes will therefore allow comparison between years and help document how the tinnitus research landscape evolves.
The report also provides a resource for clinicians who may not routinely have the opportunity to follow the rapidly expanding tinnitus literature. Bringing research activity together within a single annual publication can help clinicians identify developments relevant to clinical practice while allowing researchers to place their own work within the wider international context.
The Annual Tinnitus Report will be published annually by Hashir International Press, with each year forming a new volume. Volume 1 covers research published during 2025 and was released in 2026.
The complete report is freely available online and can be read or downloaded from the Annual Tinnitus Report website.
